ADSL / NBN VDSL2 SETUP
it all started in 2007 when Kevin rudd was PM he announced the National broad band network aka nbn i was so exited we were going to have fibre to our home yyyeeeaa awesome i said but then things turn bad nooooooo, we had a change of government then there changed the nbn roll out from FTTP to a multi technology mix now most of nbn services r FTTN or wireless but some suburbs r getting FTTdb witch means not everyone will have the same speed.
Were i am im getting FTTN im 602 copper meters from my node, this is very impotent to find out it will determen what speeds u will get, just ring ur ISP there should tell u, at the moment i''m still on ADSL nbn Planned availability: Oct-Dec 2017* Planned technology: nbn™ Fibre to the node (FTTN)*.
I signed up with ISP Aussie broadband in July 23rd 2007 service cancelled March 20 2017 there great up untill eryler 2016 i started having lots of dropouts but there wouldn't do anything to help, so i changed ISP im now with Telstra it was activated March 20 2017, there still been dropout but no way were near as-meny so i will just with Telstra from now on.
tips on how to get the most out of ur nbn service (FTTN is using a protocol called VDSL2)
check ur home wiring E.G phone lines , points & plugs
disconnect any un-used phone sockets
get a contractor in to run a network cable most likely a CAT5e or CAT6 cable from were ur phone line connects to ur home. he'll run that cable from outside to were ur modem is. this way its a separate line for ur internet.
Buy a good modem don''t use the modem u get from ur ISP there useally shit, u wont b able to get the most from ur nbn service, u should buy a VDSL2 compatible modem ether a nighthawk or netgear.
What i have done to get the most out of my nbn service when im connected.
i got a contractor in on may 18 2017 to run a CAT6 cable from were my phone line connects to my home. he ran a CAT 6 cable from outside to were my modem is. this way its a separate line for my internet. my speed atm over 602m of copper wire is 20.1mbps to node. ADSL speed test using telstra pervideed modem.
